Adelaide Glass blocks was engaged to refurbish the glass blocks in the stairwell on the western facade of Adelaide High School. The panel was extremely degraded and all the blocks had to be removed. The building is heritage listed which required the replacement of the blocks without any structural change to the building.
Light diffusing blocks were an excellent choice as the panel is located on the western side of the building which receives strong afternoon sunlight. The blocks diffuse and reduce the sunlight penetrating the building, creating a softer illumination internally.
